Audible Currents of Connectivity

Art South Africa
 Clive Kellner

Kim Lieberman is a painter of seductive surfaces and evocative content. She shows a predilection for rich textures, strong colour or absent colour, and obsessively random, spontaneous marks and patterns – used primarily to convey meaning.

Combining Sensual with Conceptual

SA Jewish Report

Is it always necessary to reveal secrets? This was a question which immediately struck me on confronting the profound aesthetic of Kim Lieberman's recent work. The exhibition opened on November 1 by Rabbi Michael Katz of Chabad, Illovo, in the name of gematria and kabbalah and their role in Lieberman's work.

 Corinne Lamoral

In this age of high-tech communication Kim Lieberman has made an art out of the interconnectedness of messages given and received through the mail, creating a new art medium she calls "post art".

The Threads That Bind Us

Embroidery Magazine
 Robyn Sassen

"Only connect", were the immortal words of E. M. Forster. How comfortably and ubiquitously it fits the work of Kim Lieberman, a Johannesburg-based contemporary South African artist.

Once I saw and heard a man singing liturgical song. He was physically unrefined, yet he did it with such sincerity that the sounds emitting from his mouth seemed to be lines of colour that melded and intertwined, forming beautiful tendrils. For me, this man and his song evoke ‘Influence’, a work central to Kim Lieberman’s ‘Human Matters.’
